I have my bias, but also open for changes. I love Vietnamese food, but there are chinese dishes i had that are good. I can't name them all, but I can asure you that i had some good chinese food before. However, don't jump to conclusion, by saying it is subjective and that I cannot pass judgment b/c people have different taste (don't give me that BS about if you want real chinese food go to china). What make a good cook and why certain ones are more favorable than others. Although marketing has alot to do with the popularity of the food advertisement can only trick you once. What brings customers back for more is the qaulity of the meal not the hype. In my opinion chinese food is too oily (too many stir fried) Vietnamese is much more healthier and is base on alot of vegetable. Please people I am not asking about Sushi or curry or things of other nature. Its a simple question Viet food or chinese food? What make you like it and what make you dislike it. Keep it simple

Wow, this is the quickest response i ever had, its seem as if many are familiar with chinese cuisine more than viet cuisine. Thx all for answering (so far). However, I am Chinese and Thai, but chinese food just didn't cut it for me. I know some of you answer i like chinese food b/c you are Chinese ( you are what you eat of course), but having use to eating does not equate to being excellency. Although we can say our taste has grown into custom with what we normally eat but one cannot say it is the best. I love thai cuisine too and it is very similiar to Viet cooking. the similairity of focusing on herbs and lots of green and suace. Someone metioned that chinese food are too ruch, yes that is the sole reason while I don't enjoy it much. here is another far fetch, I love Italian food, the simplicity of the cooking make its a wonderfull delite. Unlike chinese food, Thai, Viet and Italian cusine is about the sauce.

Perhaps, the table has turned. Many are prefering Vietfood. I need for more people who like Chinese food. Well, I love Dim Sum ("touch of heart"--breakfast). many of the dishes are steam and chinese has a wide range of style b/c the geography of the country is so huge that makes it hard for the average to try all the tastse of china. however, many that i tried are so oily that it make feel guilty for eating (fat). I'm a man, but getting any younger so i have to worry about my health. But i think chinese food has many healthy dishes too, but can anyone tell me which dish?

In my small world I love Chinese and I'm talking the variety you get at the dime-a-dozen- Chinese buffets in every town. But I am worldly enough to realize that I'm not really eating Chinese food but an Americanized version of such.
I can't speak for Viet food because I have never eaten it. We have a small area in this town that does have Viet restaurants and I've heard good things but its a very run down area and I shouldn't be such a snob, but so far I haven't ventured to any of them. I guess I get too comfortable in my own little world.

Vietnamese food are more traditional than chinese food you find in Chinese-American Restaurants. The chinese food we know here are basically created in America. I prefer chinese food only because they lack the large amount of MSG found in many vietnamese dishes from restaurants. But then again, I can always make Vietnamese food without the msg, whereas, it takes longer to cook Chinese food. Could I have a 3rd option? If yes, I pick Thai Food.

I prefer Viet food, although I have only had it twice. I tried a dish with noodles, shrimp and chicken, it was very good, i loved it. I have Chinese food only once a year or less, because eight years ago, when I was pregnant with my daughter, the smell of Chinese food frying (the peanut oil smell) would make me feel so nauseous, to this day I cannot stand the smell. On the rare occasions I do have Chinese, I always have a bao, because it reminds me of when I was little and my Mom's friend would get me one. Also, it just about the only Chinese food that isn't fried!

I prefer Vietnamese food, but only because I eat Chinese food regularly. I occasionally eat Vietnamese food, on some weekends, or going out to eat. Also, I like the taste of their food, not too salty, but still has some flavour.

My wife is Vietnamese and enjoys cooking traditioanl dishes. I enjoy the because they are a healthy way to stay cut (I am a body builder). I guess you could say I like the healthy light aspect of Vietnamese cooking for daily consumption.
Her parents spent some time in China so her and her mother know how to cook a lot of the dishes. I like them but I would consider them more of a holiday/celebration type food due to the oil and richness.

I like Vietnamese food because of the French influences. Nothing like Frogs legs and perfumed mushrooms in vegetables for me.
