Don't fall on mediocrities. Say it with the right word. Somebody will notice by that that maybe you are classy.

Because the brands were expertly marketed to the point where if you think of tissue for example, you think of Kleenex, so you refer to tissue as Kleenex.

Any soda pop, except Pepsi, is coke..
tissues are Kleenex, regardless..
A refrigerator is an icebox, regardless..
A small, portable cd-player is a walkman
It's how brainwashed we've become..

It just becomes a part of our society and slang. It incredibly talented marketing. It a name that people trust so much that its name becomes the common lore. Most recent example, "Google". How many times have you heard someone say..."Google it".

It is the best product, with a flawless reputation.

It drives me crazy when people ask me at restaurants "what would you like to drink?" and i say coke. Instead of letting me know they have PEPSI products, they just bring me a pepsi, and assume i meant pepsi. I guess most people use "Coke" universally for all sodas or something
