What is wrong with "I don't know"? Are you afraid to say the words?

Beta, I ask questions to try and get people to think. Most of the time my questions lead one to another.... meaning one line of reasoning leads to a specific end. The only way people can get out of going to that specific end is to talk themselves in circles and make themselves hypocrites.

It's not all about trolling although, that can be amusing at times. Sometimes it's to confuse and confound people.

I don't have a problem with the words "I don't know". However I'm probably not going to be using them in this forum. If I don't know the answer to a question that is asked I'm not going to answer with "I don't know" just to get 2 points. And if spirituality comes into my answer I WILL say something about God or Jesus.

On a forum like this, if I don't know, I don't bother wasting people's time telling them that. (In other words, I just don't answer the question.) When I am teaching a group, I have absolutely no problem admitting when I don't know something. Then I go research the answer and get back to the person who asked, if possible.

It depends on the question. If I truely don't know, then I say as much, but if I don't know and have an opinion then I share my opinion.

Do you have a problem with a question being answered with something about God or Jesus if that is the persons beliefs?

In the Bible Belt, anything and everything that happens is because of God. It's either a blessing, or a tribulation that He's given you to make you stronger. Some people here even believed that hurricane katrina hit because the people in that area had sinned!! Jesus is extremely busy in the South!

Is that why you ask questions here? To try to stump people?

Huh...I thought you were just trolling to get a rise out of people.

Edit: Oh, to get people to think... I see... Yeah, that whole "Jesus committed suicide" line of questioning was really thought-provoking...

My general rule is, if I do not know the answer to the question; do not offer any answer to the question. Sometimes I do look at other people's replies to educate myself on the subject.

Usually people answer questions they think they know. So to say "I don't know" would rarely be answered because most people wouldn't attempt to answer something they don't think they know. They wouldn't bother clickingthe "answer this question" button.

Everything that Christians don't know gets explained with God.

At one time, God was used to explain the Sun and Moon.

Now he's used to explain creation.

It's called 'God of the Gaps'.

If I know the answer, I answer it. If I don't, I don't.

If you ask a Biblical question, you get a Biblical answer. Hence, the Religion & Spirituality board...
