I know soda dehydrates you. I'm pretty sure this is because of the high fructose syrup in it, and has nothing to do with the carbonation.

You need 8 glasses, or so I've read, of water a day to atleast replensih what you lose. The more, the better.

My question is this - Is drinking Perrier/San Pelligrino/Seltzer (all with no calories or sodium, 0 everything, really) the same thing as drinking water? I know its better than soda, but is it just as good?

Thanks!

I don't really care how much it costs - Im not buying it because it's pretty. I find i tend to "snack" a lot, and instead of eating I reach for a diet soda. A better alternative to this is reaching for seltzer or perrier or something, if im not in the mood for water!

Canada Dry, Perrier, S. Pelligrino, its all variants o fthe same thing. Its bubbly water, lol. Besides, I only buy the Pelligrino when it's on sale at costco :D Thanks for all the help guys!

It's the same thing, but I can't for the life of me understand why you would want to drink that stuff. I hate it! :)

Yeah, don't worry about it. The carbonation shouldn't matter - I can't say I'd recommend drinking *only* that, though...you should still drink some regular water, too.

perrier is just carbonated water however some studies have shown that it's the bubbles in drinks (as well as the caffeine) that increases the bladders activity therefore decreases the amount you absorb. However anything is better than drinking fizzy drinks like coke etc (they actually rot your bladder from the inside out and can cause long term continence problems if you overdose regularly)

They are NOT the same: mineral water has some dissolved mineral solids plus sodium ~ salt. Some in high concentrations! Water has no salt. Most sodas, diets included, have ingredients that make you even thirstier for more! Feel familiar? Try mixing 3/4 water, 1/4 juice. It goes down really smoooth!

Nope they are different animals to your body
Your body needs a minimum of 8 - 8oz glasses of water(h2o) a day and more if hot out. Soda is processed in body differently, it leaves and takes out different needed chemicals.
Water balances the chemistry of your body.
Besides soda etc is bottled with city water - the truth hurts.
So you pay more money for something that comes out of the tap at 3 cents US a glasses.

I believe it's as good as water, yep. However, I saw a guy on TV last week ranting about how people buy expensive water from the furthest reaches of the earth (san peligrino, Perrier, etc) and then they put ice cubes in it.......where do the ice cubes come from?....THE TAP. So just refrigerate your expensive water, please.
