I have a youthful, white 1922 dress that I am wearing on the first day of school I need a hairstyle to match it, any ideas?
I have dark brown curly hair, pale skin and dark eyes.
So help, please.

ilove the 20s &30s, the look was short, a form of female rebellion to the strict looks of the victorian era. bobs were huge! and they will be for fall. with longer hair pin curls at the hairline will be darling ,maybe if you are daring (and you should be)a spit curl on the cheek !that era was big on accessories glittering jewel hair pins

From what I am able to find by just doing a search for early 1920's fashions, it appears short hair was all the rage with pin-curls around the face. However it is a little difficult to determine what the styles really were because almost every picture has the woman wearing a hat of some sort

that was the "flapper" era. Women of that period wanted flat chests and very short hair. Unless you want to cut your hair into a bob and finger-wave it, you might have to invent something.
Don't overdo a theme...sometimes a modern hairstyle with a vintage dress will make the dress look more stylish than if you try to over acessorize with period hair, shoes, bag, jewelry. Besides, if you try to "match" everything together, you can end up looking silly instead of sophisticated.

1920s hairstyles were short bobs, alot of the had wavy hair or straight hair, but right to the chin and one length is pretty much what all 1920s styles were.. they were known as flappers.

bobs were really popular in the 20's, esp with finger waves....go to www.fashion-era.com and look under the 20's/flapper section, they should have some good photos!
