I read how Foie Gras is made, by inserting tubes in a fowl's throat twice a day and pumping half-cooked corn into it. I would agree to ban it based on that but food is necessary too. Is there some other way to get Foie Gras without force feeding birds?

In my opinion, foie-gras is inhumane, along with veal. Sure it tastes good. But just because it tastes good doesn't mean we should gorge on these 2 delicacies to the point where plenty animals have to suffer. I'm not being an extremist here, because some people are saying "Hey, if this goes on, we're gonna all end up eating nothing but vegetables," which I totally disagree on. Sure we can still eat chicken, beef, pork, etc. but let's not do anything inhumane to the animals. Slaughtering is natural. We have to do it so survive and to prevent overpopulation of some species. But taking it further is when the food preparation can be deemed inhumane. Sadly there is no other way to create foie-gras. I think the banning was a good decision as long as it doesn't elevate to unreasonable bannings.

Foie gras production involves force feeding birds much more than they consume in the wild and much more than they eat voluntarily. The feed, usually corn which is boiled with fat to facilitate ingestion, causes large amounts of fat to deposit in the liver producing the buttery consistency. The force-feeding by tube that you talk about it reduces the time taken in producing foie-gras. There are no alternative methods.

Foie Gras means " Fatty Liver". Liver swells with fat only when a bird is overfed. If not force-feeding the birds, there is no other way. Because naturally animals do not gorge themselves to the point when their livers turn fatty.
So, just give it up.

There is a more humane method where you keep feeding the duck or goose without force feeding them. The foie gras is not as good that way though.

Even if there was, that is the cheapest way to do it. The sellers would lie about how they made it to get money. It is an awful practice, so never trust foie grois!!

Unfortunately, there's no "good" way to get foie gras.

Nope
However,I have seen geese being fed for foie gras, and they seem in no pain at all. They flock round the farmer making happy noises.
They are not cruelly treated, apart from the obvious end

Hey....Foie Gras isn't exactly *food*, it's an expensive & pretty exclusive delicacy. And no, you can't get it another way. Either accept that ppl make animals suffer to gorge themselves or turn vegetarian.

no there is not, the force feeding is what causes their liver to gorge to the size needed for pate du foie gras.mmmmmm goose liver

Nope that's the only way. I love Foie Gras. Thank god geese are too dumb to really feel all that much pain.
