You should definitely seek medical attention, no matter how small or large the bite, nor how small or large the dog. Tetanus shots are administered, but you also need to be careful of rabies, etc. Was it your dog? Have you contacted animal control to make a report? Please be careful!

There is a risk of both tetanus and rabies....However, the biggest risk with a dog bite is a standard issue bacterial infection. Even if the wound is cleaned properly, it may require antibiotics. Either way, I suggest you see a physician, and try to obtain medical records on the dog if it is owned by someone nearby. If it is a stray dog, you have to assume it has not been vaccinated.

yes if your skin was broken by the bite ,, and if you haven't had a tetnus shot in a while ..tetnus shot is good for 5 years..

If you have not had a tetanus toxoid injection in 5 years or longer, it may be recommended but probably is not necessary.
