There is no such thing as "bereavement" leave. Military personnel are required to take normal leave for such instances. Their supervisors can authorize up to 30 days, and Commanders can authorize up to 45 days (Air Force). This depends on how much leave the individual has accrued. With their Commander's approval, they may take advance leave (use leave they have not earned yet).

If it is an immediate family member that died (father, mother, sibling, etc) military members can take "Emergency Leave". This still uses their normal leave, but it gives them a higher priority to catch space available military flights for travel purposes.

I was in the Army for six years. There is no such thing as "bereavement leave". If someone in your immediate family died, you could take up to 30 days (regular leave) depending on the circumstance. IE: If there was property to dispose of, estates to settle, or arrangements for the care of other family needed to be made. If it is just to attend the funeral services the leave was usually only a week or two. I hope this helps.

Most leaves military or otherwise are from 1-5days. That all depends on who in the family died.
