I don't know but here is how yo can catch one to sudy and find out.
First-cut a big hole in the ice and put a net in it so they can't see it.
Second-surround the entire hole with peas
Third-when a penguin comes up to take a pea, run up and kick him in the ice-hole! hahahahaha

same reason that polar bears dont eat penguins.
polar bears live in the arctic and penguins live in the ant-arctic

I live on the antartic pack ice. Penguins do not live in the artic, it is not cold enough nor is there enough fish to eat.
