specifically what are the nutritional ramifications because I have read that B-vitamins and protein cannot be absorbed because of the portion of small intestine that is bypassed. Also, what happens if there is a pregancy? What happens to a developing fetus if the B-vitamins and protein is not accessible? What are other downsides to gastric bypass surgery? I want to make the best informed decision and I am afraid that I am only hearing of the "up" sides of surgery or at best "sugar coated" negative sides to the surgery. I would like the most information anyone is able to give me! Thank you!

If I was interested in that kind of surgery, I would go to my family doctor. He will be able to answer all your questions. In fact he can refer you to a doctor that can help you. Please, be very careful on deciding to have the surgery and be sure to shop for an absolute, 100% for real doctor that knows his business. I will be anxious for you. And I pray you will make the right decision . Thanks and God Bless.

It is my understanding they do not do bypass surgery. rather the stomach stapling/ I had bypass surgery 30 years ago. I lost about 80 Lbs, and that was incentive to loose some more ,I also gained back about 40 lbs, so it doesn.t do everything for you, you have to do the work, also be prepared for a life time of diarrhoea, not pleasant but I would sooner run to the biffy, than waddle to the bathroom, My son had the stomach stapling and was sorry that he did for a year after he did but as the weight loss continued the happier he became. the only thing he has problems he has is food still gets hung up on the entrance to his stomach. As for the B vitamin problem, yes I had to get b12 shots for a few years, and never any protein problems.if you are not sure get a second opinion, it is a life changing operation if I can answer any more of your questions, pls email me

there are a number of downsides to GBS, danger of an infection, sagging pores and skin after weight help, etc. although, in maximum situations the place the guy somewhat desires GBS, the advantages honestly outweigh the hazards. on occasion, the assumption of residing without the surgical technique is greater existence threatening then the achieveable hazards it is poses.

Excellent article from WebMD. Link below. It states that you would have to prevent pregnancy temporarily in order for your weight to stabilize. Of course, vitamin deficiencies will affect pregancy and the developing fetus.

There are alot mnore down sides than there are upsides...I know a person that is in a coma still after 6 months, you have to drink protein shakes every day to keep your protein up. I know a woman that is losing her hair and her nails are getting brittle due to lack of nutrition. Surgery should be a last resort. I lost 95 lbs in 8 months using a plan called Shapeworks. I have kept it off for over 4 years now. Here is where I found it: www.loseweightnow.com/tfward

I've heard you can eat only small amounts of food OR liquid at a time, not both.
The feeling that 'hey, I didn't do it myself'.
