What should I do about a nosy neighbor?

She tells averything that comes and goes from my apartment. I mind my own business. How do you hanldle a nosy neighbor?

Leave a vibrator out on the coffee table with a tub of vaseline. That will give her plenty of things to think about.

I tell them gossip style about a friend that has this neighbor thats allways in her business and how the nosy neighbor really looked silly spreading some rumour that your friend planted and everyone knew was bull but no one let the nosy one know she was being fooled. Neighbor might get the hint or might wonder if since she doesn't know everything maybe she should say nothing.

Who is she telling? What do they care? Why do you care?
You might try making a big list and nailing it to your door. When someone comes to visit-mark them "IN" and when they leave "OUT." Put gold stars next to the one(s) you are sleeping with--For a big laugh, put it on all of them!
Count the beer bottles in your trash and leave a note with the total on the lid.
Send yourself porno movies or sexy lingerie, unwrap them on your porch, wave them around.
Wave and smile pretty at her when you see her looking. Set flowers on her doorstep on Mother's day. Give her chocolates at Xmas.
She might be terribly lonely. She might have angered her own children with her nosiness, and can't stop herself.
If this doesn't do it, send her some binoculars, and a journal and tell her you want the royalties from the book she's writing about you.
Just make it a joke, and it won't bother YOU so much. And if you are making fun of HER, maybe she will quit.

Nosy neighbors come in handy when somebody tries to break in your apartment or you become incapacitated for some reason. "Nosy" neighbors used to keep neighborhoods alot safer when I was young. If you are a thief/mugger/rapist, would you prefer a neighborhood full of nosy people or one that is full of people who "mind their own business"?

OBTW, Is is really true that a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down?

I hate Gladys Kravitz neighbors. I have nosy rosy across the street. Incident yesterday she saw me pull up in my NEW truck, she had all kinds of ?'s about the new truck and when she asked how much did I pay for it my response was ENOUGH!

She then switched to asked questions about my daughter. She actually thought my daughter had run away. hmmmmm Guess she hadn't been watching my comings and going each morning enough to know that I take my daughter to the bus stop each morning.

NOSY rosy's I just put on IGNORE.....you'll find they have no lives, and gossip and the excitment of others is their only grasp to entertainment!

Its hard to do...

Especially when they own thier own home, you cant do much about it.

Unless she is peeking in your windows, or any other illegal activities, you are not able to do a thing about it.

You "could" tell her to mind her own business, but, I doubt if she will take it to heart, as she seems to focus on you and needs another distraction. So, unless you are doing anything wrong, be thankful that some one is looking out for your interest, incase your place gets robbed or you get abducted or some other thing that may befall you and she will be there to witness it and possibly help you by calling the Police in case your ever in trouble!

I had the same problem when i lived in a really small town and had neighbors that didn't work due to retirement. They had nothing better to do than sit and gossip and worry about everything and everybody else. One of them died, and the other one pretty much shut up after that. And then i moved, and solved the problem:)

Some of these answers are great! I think you should slide an envelope under her door addressed to the "Nosey Old Hag" with a note inside that says "Mind Your Own Business" signed "Neighborhood Privacy Committee". Have fun with it, because apparently she has no life and you are it!

Nosy neighbors are a pain in the neck. If you're not doing anything wrong don't worry about it--ignore your neighbor.

Keep minding your own business. If she tries to gossip to you just tell her I really don't want to hear gossip or what she has to say is none of your business. The listener in gossip is as much at fault as the gossiper. If she has no one to listen then she cannot continue her gossiping ways. If she spins tales about you obviously she has nothing else better to do. Sounds like a lot that went down in my neighborhood. You are on the right track by just keeping to yourself.

Give her something to really gossip about. Have your friends over and let them know about the nosy neighbor situation, then play it up! She will really have a ball.... how about invition her over?
