It depends on what it is. Milk and dairy products I would recommend you throw them out because they can make you sick and they contain bacteria. Other items may be ok but smell it first. I don't eat or drink things that are past the expiration date. Better safe than sorry.

It depends on the item, but I usually throw things out after the expiration date....better safe than sorry! =) Cooked meat can keep up for a month after the expiration date on the package.

depends on what it is, trust ur gut... if u think it smells funny or dont think it keeps long, get rid of it, but some things can last awhile, the dates are sometimes actually "best by" not "expires after", so they might just tast a little off, but remember, if ur not sure, better safe then sorry!

the expiration date is not the date that something is bad ...its the date that something is no longer at its maximum freshness so really its something that you have to determine...for instance milk may have an expiration date of august 23,2006 (today) but it still may be good through the weekend and it may already be sour...you just have to use your judgement

any dairy or non frozen meat items I would not mess with. However frozen items or dried goods are usually good for at least a week or two after expiration. Soda's and other beverages are usually still good, but usually taste flat.
