I'm in the 11th grade. & I should start taking my act/sat tests this year & I heard you have to do them at the local high school here. Does anyone know of a program I can use or somewhere other then my local high school where I can take my act/sat's? Thanks it would be a huge help!

Hey- don't be shy! I took the SAT and ACT at a completly different high school and I didn't know too many people there. But all I did was just focus on the test- that's the most important thing. How do u expect 2 go 2 college? There's going 2 b thousands of people there, u know? I'm kinda shy too, but the more u deal w/ people on a daily basis, the better it gets. I think u have 2 take the test at a high school, but there's also universitites that u can take it. Go 2 www.collegeboard.com for more info. Good blessings!

Better find out what the college you want to enter requires, since they all have their own admission requirements. Community Colleges don't have testing requirements.

You don't have to be tested in 11th grade--especially if you'd rather work for a year.

But you can just call the local high school--don't mention homeschooling at all, just ask when/where/how much the tests are and then go take the test. Or call the Community College or any private high school.

Best place to ask that question is at the local high school. They will tell you the testing location (even if it is at the school), date, and time. You will have to fill out an information packet to send in so that your name is in the registry.

As a side note, I'd look for the SAT and ACT study guides. They are extremely helpful in going over material that is on the tests.

Aside from that, good luck!

You can take the SAT anywhere you want, as long as you get there on time. Check out their website http://www.collegeboard.com and browse around.... I took it at the local HS, and I've been homeschooled. Don't worry if you're shy - everyone else is too, or at least nervous. As for test prep, the official SAT prep book was great - had practice tests, guides to how to solve types of questions, etc.

As for the ACT, I assume it's about the same - I saw their test prep book and it looked good too. That website is http://www.actstudent.org

The test prep books should be available at your local public library.

You're better off taking them at a local high school. If you don't start interacting now, you'll become a shut-in at college. Get out there, have some fun...meet new people. It's actually really exciting and fun! Trust me, you don't want to be the only kid stuck in a dorm room studying on a Saturday night by yourself.

Go to your local high school guidance office and ask for the SAT prep courses being given or go to your local community college and ask for the same thing.

Check collegeboard.com. That's the tests official web site. They will list all testing centers in your area. As far as being shy, it's not like you sit with someone or talk during the test, you don't. I was home schooled, too, and now I attend a nice college. So don't sweat it. Hope you do well.

If I was you, I would consult my local extension office. They have a wide variety of information on these things.
