I don't know what it was called because my friend ordered it, but it was basically cream cheese sandwiched between a gooey cake and brownie

Is there anyway to call the restaurant and ask them what the dessert was?

Not guite the same, but here's a good and easy recipe.

CHOCOLATE CHEESECAKE BROWNIES

1 box chocolate cake mix
1 stick margerine softened
1 egg

Mix together. It will be crumbly and press into a lightly greased
cake pan.

1 box (1 lb.) powdered sugar
1 8 oz. cream cheese softened
3 eggs

Beat thoroughly until smooth. And then pour over the cake mixture.

Bake at 350 for 45 to 55 minutes (or until a toothpick comes out clean)

*** You can top this with EASY CHOCOLATE ICING if you want it really rich.

EASY CHOCOLATE ICING

1 cup suger
1/4 stick margerine
1/3 cup milk
1 t. vanilla

Cook in heavy pan on top of stove until it comes to a rolling boil and time for 1 minute. Remove from heat.
Add 1/2 cup chocolate chips and beat until smooth & creamy.
Pour over cake immediately.

1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped pecans, walnuts or peanuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

Melt 1 package butterscotch pieces and shortening in top of double boiler or over boiling water. Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar. Cool for 5 minutes.

Blend eggs and vanilla into butterscotch mixture, stirring well.

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Blend into butterscotch batter.

Stir in nuts and other package butterscotch pieces. Spread into prepared pan.

Bake 25 minutes. Cool on wire rack. While still warm, cut into 2-inch squares.

Servings: Makes about 2 dozen.

i just tried a recipe from Pillsbury, it looks somewhat like the cake you described. It is in the section "The most requested" http://www.pillsburybaking.com/recipe/recipe.asp?recipeid=8814
It's quite easy to make. The cream cheese layer requires baking here.
I do not know if in your recipe the cream cheese layer was baked with the cake or no...
In this one, the cream cheese layer was not baked for example, but it has no brownie on top. I think it's good though
