Ah nope... your mother just wants the best for you which is understandable.. But you can't buy love... I don't think you should expect really expensive gifts, just sweet gifts from the heart. If your buying him loads of stuff, it is probably because you want something in return.. Or because you think you have nothing to offer him.. Your love should be all that is needed, and his love should be satisfising enough to you..

I do agree with your mom when she says u shouldn't be buying him an expensive gift but you have to think again about the point she made that the man should be chasing the girl and showering her with gifts all the time. No guy wants to be with an high priced female its better to be friends give a card something simple to show you appreciate him but don't go above and beyond best friends can end up being great couples. NOt shallow ones.

Don't listen to your mom, shes living in the past.
Its totally OK to give a guy expensive stuff or even little gifts.
Why should we have to be the only ones forking over the big bucks on gifts.
No No No

This is what I think. It doesn't matter how expensive something, as long as you got it for him and it came from you, it's all about the thought. And, since it's his Birthday, you should give him something for it. Also, it is partial true that the guy is suppose to be more supportive to give the girls stuff but, I believe it's time for a change, we've been giving and giving, we hardly ever receive anything, it's time for the ladies to reward us.

124$ track suite? How long have you been together and how old are you? Has he ever bought you anything that expensive? If he hasn't then I wouldn't give it to him. Get him some cologne or something.

If your boyfriend has mentioned that he'd want a track suit like that, but hasn't bought one for himself, and it's the right size, then give it to him!
He will like you a lot.

But -- if he has never ever mentioned wanting that sort of track suit, sorry. See if you can get a refund from the store. Getting an unwanted/useless/wrong gift annoys guys.

P.S. I wish I had a girlfriend like you!

Your mom is wrong. Nobody should need to shower anyone with gifts to get their affection.

If you bought this guy a present and you want to give it to him, then do so. However, if he is not your boyfriend, you shouldn't be giving him gifts in the hopes that a relationship will develop.

Your mom is right. However, give him the suit, just don't make a practice of getting expensive gifts unless he 'earns' them. Hell, a simple unexpected peck on the cheek is worth more than just about anything. Learn to play the game, girl.
