--Is Catholic--
Actually that is the Protestant notion that women can only be saved by having children.
In Catholic theology there is a difference between the husband and wife who are united in marriage and the family. Not every marriage leads to a family. However, all marriages have to be open to becoming family by having children, as this is how familes come into existence through marriage.
For an infertile couple, it is not any sort of problem if they do not ever have kids. God has been known to give infertile couples children, but he might not. There is no duty or obligation for such a couple to adopt.
Women who have no maternal instinct are often surprised that it turn on after 35ish (and often something fierce). Additionally for many if not most, having the child will also turn on the maternal instance. For men, the paternal instinct also turns on when there are children. Husbands suddenly become fathers, and there is a change in their attitudes. This is ideal of course and some people have issues and are not good mothers or fathers.
All the Church asks is that you be open to having children. God will give you exactly what you need to raise your kids.

Children are God's gift to us.Catholics believe that it takes both parents to properly raise a child. No,it is not assumed the woman will stay home and the man goes to work.If a couple is infertile either the Lord has other plans for them or they should try prayer, just as the woman with no maternal instinct should. With God's grace we have been married 34 years and our three children have been an absolute joy to us.Do not give up on children or catholics because someone who saw the DaVinci Code thinks he or she knows all the answers. That person is misinformed. God Bless and Good Luck

I am not Catholic, I am Christian, and I believe in the first commandment God gave his Children Adam and Eve, to multiply and populate the Earth. That being said, if you are not able to you cannot possibly sin by not having children. Our Heavenly Father wants us to be able to care for our children. If you do not have a "motherly instinct" and are not able to produce children on your own it may be because it is not the right thing for you to do. Only you know what is in your heart and what your circumstances are. Only you can decide what your father in Heaven wants for you.

I don't know what the pope might think, but no - the catholics don't preach that a woman's place is in the home. It's definitely not on the altar, but outside of that, it's all good.
If you're infertile, it's ok. You are not required to have children by hook or by crook.
If she doesn't want children, she still has to rely on the rhythm method. Or abstinence. And prayer.

Adopting children are to be the decision of both husband and wife. If the wife does not like to have a child then the husband either has to agree to her or convince her the importance of having a child. Love has to work both ways. And out of that, one may have to sacrifice.

A woman can adopt if she wants, and a woman is allowed to have a career if she wants to. Catholicism doesn't prohibit having a career.

Catholics (and Christians in general) believe that a woman's place is in the home. Just another evidence that the bible is severely out of date and obsolete.

I was raised Catholic and was never taught that it is a woman's "duty" to raise children whether or not she is or is not able to bare children.

THE CHURCH BELIEVES THAT WOMEN ARE SECOND CLASS CITIZENS. LOOK HOW THEY HAVE CHANGED THE TRUTH OF MARY MAGADALENE. THEY EXAULT THE VIRGIN MARY, BUT DENIGRATE MARY MAGDALENE FOR LOVING JESUS..
I YOU DO NOT WANT CHILDREN,PLS DONT HAVE ANY. YOU WILL ONLY RESENT THEM.
