If Isa means the 'Word of God' in Islam how come there are no teachings of his in the Quran? As name suggests he IS the word of God so shouldn't have someone from Muslim world go around with him to record what he has to say?

Just curious of this as it seems logical.

Reading at some of the answers, seems that it is only a few teachings and story of Mary and his birth. So it does seem strange that the Quran tells of his second coming which means he is held in a high regard by God but yet the Quran does not have a complete Isa teaching documented. Very peculiar.

Isa does not mean "word of God" in Arabic. He is known to be the "word of God" amongst Muslims. On his teachings, yes, we do follow his teachings. A Muslims belief is incomplete without believing in him and the scripture sent to him (injeel/gospel). They are in the Quran and Sunnah. Example;
The verse "When Jesus came with Clear Signs, he said: 'Now I have come to you with Wisdom, and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) on which you dispute. Therefore, fear God and obey me. God, He is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him -- this is a Straight Way.' But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement. So woe to the wrongdoers, from the penalty of a Grievous Day!" (43:63-65)
The Prophet said, 'If anyone testifies that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone who has no partners, and that Muhammad is His Slave and His Apostle, and that Isa is Allah's Slave and His Apostle and His Word which He bestowed on Mary and a Soul from Him, and that Paradise is true, and Hell is true, Allah will admit him into Paradise with the deeds which he has done even if those deeds were few' (Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 4, Hadith 644).
As someone from the Muslim world going around and recording what he said; Jesus (pbuh) was sent to the Jews. I don't get you question.?... but amongst those who lived during his time, recorded some of what he said.

Isa was way before Mohamed :S
Some of jesus's teaching where in the Quran(god's message to his followers.)
Most of his teachings where warped tho over the years, and if u don't see this, just look at the bible, there is evidence enough there.

Jesus peace be upon him, was a prophet he spread the word of God as did all the other prophets. Jesus' message was changed and distorted over the years after his death. The last and final prophet Muhammad peace be upon him also shared the word of God with us. Almost all of his words and actions are recorded in hadith still taught and followed today. I thought Christians believed that Jesus was spreading the word of God!

The Qur'an contains an entire chapter on Mary and the birth of Jesus. Beautiful.
Also contains the stories of Moses and Abraham.

Isa means Jesus (pbuh) in Arabic (not Islam...Islam is a religion, not a language). It does not mean Word of God. The mere idea that you put Jesus (pbuh) in parenthesis after Isa tells you what it means.

Well, if you enjoy playing with name meanings then I have one for you...do you remember the name of the criminal who was released instead of Jesus? The name was Barabas. Do you know what this name means in Arabic? Bar=son of, aba=God. So it sounds like the "Son of God" was actually released then and didn't suffer on the cross.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
