1 pd. confectionary sugar.
1/2 to 3/4 cup of shortening
2-3 T. Milk

Put all ingredients into a mixing bowl and blend with an electric mixer for 3-5 minutes on medium to high to make it extra fluffy. For flower decorations add milk a little at a time until creamy enough to blend all together, but keeping it thick. You must refridgerate this frosting. I use this recipe ALL the time and it works very well for decorating. I suggest making the flowers and placing them on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and then put them in the freezer before transfering them to the cake (unless you are just going to make them directly onto the cake. Color/dye as desired, adding a few drops at a time. Chill first before decorating to ensure that the frosting will not run. Good luck.

With a fork, mash together 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon powdered sugar until a fine paste. Add a few drops of milk. Continue adding powdered sugar and milk until desired consistency is achieved. You want it to be the consistency of Elmer's Glue. Add 2 drops of almond or vanilla extract. Stir more. Yield: about 1 cup. Dip the face of the cookie into the glaze and rake any excess back into the bowl. Sprinkle with colored sugar before the glaze hardens.

Yes.

buttercream frosting:

Mix one stick of butter (room temp.) with one pound of powdered sugar and 1/4 cup of milk (room temp.), 1 tsp. vanilla.

If you need it thicker, just add more sugar. Use shortening if you need it white instead of buttercream
