I know I shouldn't ask health questions but I was just curious --

I think I may have acid reflux and I noticed that one of the symptoms is regurgitation. I am also on the birth control pill so do you think that if the contents of my stomach were to come up, the pill would too and become less effective? Thanks!!

yes definately. if the pill is not being digested then it is not going to work. you should see a Dr before you end up pregnant.

First thing - take your Pill with food. I don't care if it is 11p.m. Eat a cup of yogurt and then swallow the pill with water or milk.

Second, yes if you are having spit-up then you are experiencing GERD. Try over the counter stuff first. I like Pepcid and Rolaids.

Diet is key to reducing acid. That could be all you need to do is diet and eating something with you pill. Try and see. If it continues you need to see your doc. The acid can cause serious erosion over time. I know cause I have GERD. It feels like you are having a heart attack. If I am a bad girl - the acid drips out while I am sleeping and causes blisters on my face around my mouth - very ugly.

You won't be sorry if you try the basics first. take care!

I don't know where she got her info but a pill is NOT dissolved and into the blood stream in 20 minutes. Anytime you take a pill it will be 1 hour before it is into the system. Pills that a designed to work in the small intestine and not the stomach are a little different. If you are concerned about the pill coming back up and you condition is that severe then obviously you need to seek professional advice instead of asking the morons on here.

You should ask your doctor that and then come back and tell us because now you have us curious. I dream when I over eat (I no longer have acid reflux) so it seems reasonable to think that way.

The sphincter at the lower end does not function normally then the acid contents get entry to the lower oesophagus & causes burning sensation at the epigastrium. your pills effect will not be affected by acid reflux don't worry.

The pill disolves and is in your blood stream within 20 minutes of ingesting it. I asked this question at my doctor because for 2 weeks I was sick all the time and vomiting and I was curious as if the BC was still working.

Check with your doctor. I take a prescription for prilosec, and it seems to work very well. It is 40 mg and I have never felt better. You can also buy it over the counter, but not as strong. You might not need it as strong as I take. Its worth a shot

Try this:
Eat an apple before you go to bed. Even a slice of apple will work.

I'm not kidding. Very effective.
