My kitten is about 9 weeks old. I feed her canned cat food in 5.5 oz cans. It is recommended that cats eat 1 oz/lb of weight and kittens eat 2 oz/lb of weight. I do not have a scale that will weigh her. She can easily eat an entire can in a day and probably more if I gave it to her. What do you recommend?

If I were you.. I would feed the cat dry food... in a day's time, about one half cup of dry and NO MORE than one half of a can of canned food

i would guess that's your kitten in your pic? if so, she's still pretty small. when i took in a kitten about that size i was told by the vet 1/2 a can 2x a day. the vet would also be able to weigh her, call one and find out how much a check up costs... it's usually only around $20-35. at 9 weeks she can be fixed too so that's usually around the time most people take their kittens in the first time.

Kittens should be offered as much food as they like at each meal to ensure they have an adequate intake of nutrients – they are unlikely to overeat at this stage in their life.

Kittens vary in their individual requirements and some grow at a faster than others. They will generally eat enough to satisfy their needs within 20 minutes or so – after this remove any uneaten portions and replace with fresh food at the next meal.

It depends on the brand of food that you are feeding her, and rather it is adult or kitten food. I would suggest you talk to your vet and find out the best food and amount to give her.
I feed all my kittens Science Diet Kitten formula. It's a good, nutritious food.
