not at all. it rather burns more calories to digest protien, than to digest fat. plus protiens when converted to muscle mass helps you to burn more energy. 100gm of muscle tissue will consume times more energy to maintain itself than equivalent of fat.
WORD OF CAUTION:- protien from red meat is high in animal fat as well, so this form of protien could make you fat, as it is packaged with fat. prefer lean prtein as veg, sea food os fowl(chicken/white meat)

Hi
It depends on the total amount of protien you will intake but a simple way to lose the weight would be a plan like this one so here goes,
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx
Good luck

No it can actually help you to lose weight if you limit your carbs & sugar intake. It can help build muscle too which is great for if you are working out! Protein fills you up and it lasts longer than other foods (pasta, breads, candy, etc.) so you end up not eating as much.

Protein aids in building muscle, then muscle burns fat...although protein won't make you fatter it can make you heavier because muscle weighs more then fat. It's a good idea to eat a high protein diet in my humble opinion

protien is needed in order for your body to be able to rebuild and repair tissues. They are good for you as long as you don't eat like a horse.

Excess calories make you fat, not proteins or carbs.
1g of protein = 4 calories = 1g of carbohydrates
Low carb diets are for people who are clueless about this simple fact.
