What happens to your body? Does the extra skin hang there or does it "tighten" up as you lose the weight? I see all these success stories and can't help but wonder if they got surgery cause they look like they've been skinny their whole lives?

Depends on the elasticity of the skin that person has. Also depends to some degree on how big they got and how long they stayed big. When I was pregnant, I stretched the hell out of my belly, and after losing the weight, the belly returned to normal size, but there is some sagging skin, which I really hate.

My doctor says only a tummy-tuck will get rid of this skin. There was a program on cable called "The Shrinking Woman" about a lady who lost over 400lbs. She documented her body changes and there was significant hanging loose skin everywhere. She had multiple surgeries to try to bring herself to a "normal size." One surgery involved removing a swath of skin 5 FEET LONG and 10 INCHES THICK around her middle.

If you want to actually see what happens, I suggest looking for this documentary. She held nothing back as far as showing what happens. It was a real eye-opener for me. Since I just have a small lose pouch, I'm going to wear it as a badge of honor instead of sulking about my lack of a smooth flat belly.

The key is weight training.
You need to tone your body by doing weight training.
It helps build the muscle and tightens your skin.

People that just lose the weight without any weight training just sag. And you can see it.

So weight train. Drink lots of water. Exercise. Walk. Eat good foods.

Truth is that if you lose weight slowly and not fast then your skin can adjust to it. You have to tone as well. I know someone close to me who lost 60 pounds and their skin is tight. I also have a co worker who lost alot of weight and she's all wrinkle and saggy. She lost her 50 in 2 months.
