Honey don't think "diet" think "lifestyle change." Use a smaller plate like a salad plate, so your eyes see more food.
Don't take seconds.
Eat a piece of fruit midmorning and midafternoon to keep your blood sugar level and avoid bingeing.
Take the stairs instead of the lift and walk to do errands etc. whenever possible. Get off the bus a stop early and walk.
Drink plenty of water, esp. a glass before meals. It will help eliminate toxins and make you feel full sooner.
If you get an urge to snack, wait 10 min. Lots of times the urge will fade.
In winter, when cold water isn't so nice, drink herbal teas.
Avoid caffiene. It's a stimulant and can make you feel hungry; and tea and coffee often imply cake.
Avoid the pastry and junkfood aisles in the supermarket. Give or throw away the junkfoods you have at home. If it's in the house it'll end up in your mouth.
Get support; find an online support group for weight loss thru Yahoo or other groups. Find a friend to walk or exercise with, someone you can be accountable to.
Every time you're tempted to eat something bad for you, ask yourself: Is this really worth the calories?
I know it IS so much harder after 40. Do this for you. Ignore doomsayers and critics and just do it. One day at a time, one meal at a time. You only have to live through the next 5 minutes, each time you are tempted.

At 40, you really have to work because your metabolism is slower, 2 hours a week of cardio is not near enough. 1 hour per day 4 times a week MINIMUM! PLUS weight trainign 3 times a week. The intensity of your cardio MUST be in the 70%+ range to tap into stored fat. HINT - worout in the morning on an empty stomach - it teaches the body to use stored fat as fuel

Try walking. That's how I lost about 30 lbs in about 5 months. Also, I stayed away from all the fast food and junk food. And I cut out all the soda that I use to drink.
I had a walking buddy and we were support for each other. We went walking for about 30 to 40 minutes 4 times a week.

Top weight loss tips
Today there is too much information available on losing weight that has become more confusing and sometimes difficult to follow. It’s actually very easy to lose weight if you follow my weight loss tips.
* Be in right frame of mind
Before you can start any diet program you need to be in the right frame of mind. If you do not feel good about yourself you probably will not want to choose healthy foods. You cannot expect the act of going on a diet to make you feel better about yourself. The only way you can choose to eat a healthy diet to lose weight is if you have a positive self-image.
* Eat whole food
Top weight loss tips
Eat whole foods that are as natural as possible. When you eat whole foods that are full of nutrients your body will know how much to eat and how much not to eat. You do not have to count calories because your body is a wonderful machine.
* Eat fresh fruit
Eat at least two servings of fresh fruit every day. Choose whatever type of fruit is in season.
* Drink enough water
Drink the best weight loss supplement known to man, water. Most people do not know the difference from being hungry for food or thirsty for water. A great deal of times people eat when they should drink. Most likely you will not feel as hungry if you are getting enough water. You will be satisfying the thirst, which is confused for hunger. Water also helps you digest food better. Drinking water before you eat will help fill you up.
* Always chew your food
Always chew your food well. Chewing your food well will ensure that you get the most nutrients out of your food. Getting the most nutrients will satisfy your body therefore you will eat less. Another benefit of chewing well is that it helps aid in digestion.
* Take small meals
Eat small, frequent meals in a day. Large meals tax your digestion system, making it work harder. Taking too much time in between meals makes you hungrier for the next meal.
* Include protein at meal
Include good sources of protein at meal, chicken, fish, legumes, peanut, cottage cheese, eggs or yogurt.
* Shut off TV while eating
Shut off the TV whenever you eat – that includes meals and snacks. Studies show that we automatically eat larger portions when we snack in front of the tube, and typically those foods are high in fat and sugar, which means excess calories!
* Increase your physical activity
Increase your physical activity. Most people are over weight because of a lack of physical activity. Start walking more, bicycling, walks your dog for longer periods of time, swim, dance and leave the car at home when you can. It’s important that you choose a physical activity that you enjoy because you’ll stick with it.

Hi
Try this simple plan it worked for me so here goes,
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx
Good luck

Have faith in you first........ You can do it.
Say No to junk foods. Eat lots of vegetables. Drink min. 10 glass of warm water in a day. Exercise 1 hr a day (walking, jogging, cycling, tennis, etc).
Eat dinner before 9pm and that too in less quantity. Have good sleep in night and wake up early i.e. before 6am.
You will loose weight after one month... till then be rigid to this schedule otherwise you will be 50 yrs and more fatter than you now..
All the best.

The same way you lose weight when you are fat and 20. Eat less, exercise more.
At least 1,200 calories per day, but less than 1,400. Diet of lean protein, whole grains, fruits & vegetables.
Moderate exercise for at least 1 hour EVERY day.

You need to exercise daily not just a few times a week. Make yourself walk daily, drink lots of water and avoid fatty foods and foods with empty calories.
