We are all diferent, we are all free of will. And yet we are all connected, common as siblings of creation.

We are all individually different.
Brian was right because, just as with snow flakes and finger prints, voice patterns and retina differences, not one human is just like another human; not even twins. Twins differ in temperament, sexuality, likes and dislikes.
The only way we are alike is in that we all belong to the family of man.
The old man who piped out, "I'm not!", missed Brian's entire point.
Brian didn't want to be followed and was encouraging the 'others' to follow their own drum beat. The old man didn't want to follow his own drum beat; he wanted to follow Brian.
For some, life is easier when one doesn't have to make their own decisions and live with the consequences of those decisions.

Our DNA is certainly all different, however, so many people refuse to accept that they are not important, and will never be. It is fine to strive for individualism, but few make it to the point of recognition apart from all others. In theory, Brian was right, in practice, not so much.

Whether we strive to promote our individuality or not, we are all different. We think differently, react to things differently and have different feelings about things.
Try reading 1984 by George Orwell. This concerns the world being split into 3 superpowers, each of whom try to control their populations by the use of fear and intimidation, and how individuality can never be truly controlled.

That old man by being the only one saying he's not different made him different. Get my drift?
Who cares what Brian thinks.

We are all individuals. Just some of us are afraid to show our true selves for fear of not being accepted. We may act like sheep at times, but deep down we are all our true selves and that makes each one of us unique.

We are all different, yes, we are all individuals.
We all have different finger prints, and are all loved by God individually.
