I can't put this thing in a cooler because the spigot is at the bottom. What do I do?

I am talking about the things that look like giant cans of Beck's or other beer, and hold about 5 liters.

go to home depot and get some flexible water tubing for your faucet. connect the tubing to the spout, coil the tubing in a large cooler full of ice. when you turn on the spout, the beer flows through the tube, into the ice box, and voila, frosty beer flows out into your glass

If you do this a lot, I would build a jockey box. You basically take a cooler and wind tubing in a coil on the inside. Fill it with ice and the keg stays outside. The keg runs through the box and out the top, with ice cold beer. You can find directions to make one online or at any homebrew store or magazine.

easy.

get a cardboard box that is much bigger than the keg. cut a hole on the bottom/side for the spigot. Then, get some plastic sheet. (not saran wrap. heavier than that). Stick the plastic in the box and shape the plastic against the side. cut a hole in the plastic too.

Stick the can in the middle and fill with ice.
Use two boxes to keep the ice from melting too fast.

now... can I come to the party ???

get a large tub at home depot or something or even a big trash can. dump about 2 pounds of salt in there and fill with ice and water, then put keg inside. if possible cover the can. the salt in the water will reduce the lower the freezing point and keep the ice longer.

Ah I had the same problem not to long ago...I bought a styrofoam cooler at the gas station for 5 bucks and just cut out a hole in the cooler so that the spout would stick out just enough for me to enjoy some nice cold beer

Rubbermaid makes all sizes of containers. Just buy one a bit bigger then your keg and ice it down with towels layered on top to insulate and keep the ice from melting as fast.
