i took up smoking like two months ago. This summer, I've been having this horrible cough, with some phlegm and I'm not sure if its because of allergies or not, because I do have allergies, but the cough was never this bad.

and

Recently, my fingers and toes, when they get cold for any reason, all of a sudden start to get that feeling(like when you're in the snow for too long-numb, kind of hurting).

I only smoke an average of a cigarette a day, so I don't know. Could these problems be due to something else?

I am not a medical adviser. However, smoking prohibits the abosrption of oxygen into the blood stream and starves the body of it. This can lead to loss of limbs, etc. You already know that smoking and cancer have been linked, and the Government has taken these finding seriously enough to make Cigarette companies issue a health warning on the packaging. If you are smoking to fit in with the crowd.. DONT... because as those people's immune systems are comprimised you will be fit and healthy. As for what you are experiencing, without being physically tested, there is no way to know what exactly is cauing your symptoms; I STRONGLY suggest that you get to a DOCTOR, because if you leave it too long your body may become permanently damaged.

A cigarette a day isn't good for your health. The smoke could aggrevate your allergies so that it seems worse. Some people are even directly allergic to tobacco smoke. Just one a day shouldn't cause huge problems, but it's not good either.

The problems you are describing can definitely be from smoking. The problems with your feet can be due to poor circulation which cigarette smoking cause. I know that when I was smoking I had the same complaints. Once I quit all my symptoms went away,so my best advice to you is to stop smoking.

The cough may have something to do with it, although I doubt it with only one cigarette a day. But since it is only one cigarette a day-QUIT NOW! Trust me, it is not cool to smoke, it is vary addicting, and in a few years you will have a bad cough and trouble breathing, but it will be near impossible to quit then. So put them down now.

I think that you should stop smoking and see if the symptoms go away. And, you don't seem to dependent on the smoking anyways right now, so it won't be as hard to quit. After you quit, you will probably feel better and look better anyways that you won't want to start smoking again.
