I think that the whole story is bogus, but am curious to hear back from anyone. Spare me the condemnations, please...

OK - I see that they, Cain and Abel, had sisters. Recorded or not is irrelevant. But sex with your sister is pretty revolting, and there's the disintegrating DNA to worry about. Second and third cousins? That would mean that Adam and Eve had parents.
Someone said I should read the Quran - not gonna happen. Why don't you tell just me the creation myth from there to answer my question?

And does anyone out there REALLY believe that people lived 800 years? That's completely illogical.

The genises story originated as a Babylonian myth. Parts got left out. The triad of mary, joseph and jesus, originated in Egypt, with Osiris, Isis and Horus. The prayer that begins ..."tho I walk thu the valley of death, I fear no evil...": is one of the prayers in the Book of the Dead, and must be said at a particular time on a particular day during the mummification process. The Beatitudes "blessed are they who are poor...." and all the rest of that, also comes from Egypt. The OT. is a history and musings of some who could write from the tribe called the children of isreal. Of course not all of the writings from all of the people in that tribe were included in what we now call the Old Testament. If you want to know more, get some books....everything christians call christian originated somewhere else...... Helpful???

before each little thing, Adam and Eve had 3 sons that were named in the Bible. Cain, Abel and Seth. Abel became killed through Cain. i don't believe there's a factor out that Abel had a spouse. Seth's bloodline is shown in the Bible all a thanks to Jesus. As for Cain, that is declared that once God despatched him away because of his killing Abel, he got here upon his spouse in yet another land noted as Nod. hence I easily ought to anticipate that both he married a sister, or that different human beings (more desirable or a lot less) were alive throughout that specific same time. i'm no longer a literalist at the same time as it comprises the Bible and freely well known that Adam and Eve might want to no longer were the basically humanlike creations of God. I do believe even with the undeniable fact that that they were both that he chosen to have a relationship with and that is what concerns to me.

They had more children than just Able and Cain.Able and Cain were
their FIRST CHILDREN.
Gen 3:20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
Gen 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
Gen 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
Gen 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
Gen 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
Gen 5:4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:
Adam and Eve had daughters to after Cain and Able.I believe Cains
wife was a second or third cousin. No record just common sense.

I asked this in Sunday school. The teacher could not answer it.
For the record I believe in the Bible.
I think some things we are just not given privy to. I think only God knows some things.
I have heard theories.........some say that Cain stole his littel sister away....some say that God created other races that lived in the land of Nod that were not mentioned. It is a very good question and one that leads to a lot of search and thought but at the end of the day know one knows. That is where faith comes in.
I'm sure I didn't help but I was nice and didn't preach to you. Give me the two points :)

I don't think the bible said they only had boys. It was just that Cane, Abel, and Seth were the only notable children. If you read the bible carefully you'll see the error in your question.
Genesis 5:4:
4 After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters.
So, SORRY, try again.

The proof is in the Bible that they had more kids. You proably believe that they had Adam and Eve AFTER she became Eve, remember she was just woman in the Garden. So if Cain and Able weren't born until AFTER they left the Garden the proof is right there. The pain of childbirth WILL INCREASE. That means she HAD kids in the Garden.

Please read Genesis for yourself.
I can tell you havent because it states very clearly that Adam and Eve had many more children after Seth was born, both girls and boys.
I really do urge you to read it, even if you think it is bogus. If nothing else you will at least be knowledgable about something that you do not believe in.

They didn't have just boys. Genealogy was important because out of the line of David would come the Messiah. Most girls were not listed unless they had a role. There were girls in the born to Adam and Eve.

prove they only had boys. according to the bible people back then lived for hundreds of years. and adam and eve werent put here with pen and paper in hand to document. and if you look at the history, women were considered inferior, so why would they put the daughters on there if they hadnt accomplished anything. only the major events were put in there. (or perhaps this is jsut a made up story itself. cant prove anything)

Many reasonable and devout people believe this is an inspired allegory. That God spoke through the holy men who wrote the Bible giving them essential truths in a way that the people of the time could understand. Thus, it's not te be taken literally, and is to be read for its meaning.
