You have to actually talk to them because girls can just be friendly/polite by sending you a smile. They might not be intending to send you a signal that they're interested in you. Sometimes both genders mistake friendliness with sexual interest. It can be hard to separate the two but just be aware that you could be reading the signs wrong.They sometimes do have interest in you, it depends on the situation, timing and place

The hair thing is a habit, the quick look away thing means they don't want to be caught looking, but it could be for lots of reasons. A better indicator of a girl liking you is the eye contact, nod/wave and smile move. Casual touches and standing closer then is necessary are also good indicators. If she laughs like your funny even when you're not she probably likes you. Oh, and if you want more girls to like you, take the time to spell things correctly- nothing is a bigger turn off then stupidity.

As a girl, i know that girls love to flirt. I twirl my hair and flirt with guys all the time! But flirting does not necessararily mean that a girl finds a guy good looking or attractive. So dont get your head too big.

I find myself playing with my hair when I'm nervous. Sometimes it is a sign of flirting it all depends on the women, you have to check for other signs as well.
