Do you try and understand the concept of some of the Letters of the Bible? I honor and read my Bible, don't get me wrong but I do not worship it. I do try to understand the context of it.
Example
Corinthians and Head covering
I recently learned that women in Corinth who followed 'pagan' faiths shaved their heads and that this is the main reason they were told to cover their heads.

This is what I was trying to say and did not make clear. Sometimes I think we need to realize there may have been specific reasons for things written that may or may not apply. For your info though I do cover my head for prayer."Because of the angels" and for a sign of respect.

By the way I apologize if I did not make my question clear. I fear some misunderstood what I was asking and I did not mean to offend.

"For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. . . . For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels." (1 Cor. 11:7, 10)

Remember 'zeitgeist'... the 'spirit of the times'. Social customs having to do with hair were meant to control the spread of head lice. In some cultures, these concerns were couched in religious terms in order to insure compliance via fear of divine retribution.

The original texts of The Bible were recorded by the original scribes by the direct inspiration of God... none of those texts exists today. They were lost well over 1500 years ago.. there are no inerrant texts of The Bible existing today. It is only by the leading of The Holy Spirit that those of The Church may find God's Word and Will for them within any of the fragments of text we have today.

correlating the text we have to day with historical facts is not forbiden...but care should be used in not allowing the simple fact that one group did a certain thing historicaly to be a guide to Biblical interpritation of God's Word and Will... God works with individuals through The Holy Spirit... And He will lead you to the proper interpritation if you place your Faith in Him to do so.

Not sure I can really help you but I just have to wonder why a woman would follow anything (the bible) that degrades women so horriblly.

What's with the head covering and angels? Please tell me...
It is great that you see the literal interpretation, but do you see the spiritual interpretation for that scripture? ie: Female/Flesh Male/Spiritual?
