haha sorry people most of u are wrong peroxide lifts the cuticles of the hair allowing it to draw in the colour which is absorbed by the cortex! peroxide does not bleach it bleach powder bleaches hair! peroxide is and activator which is mixed with bleach and tints!

peroxide takes out the dark colors in hair..... but if you want to lighten your hair, you should use peroxide and blow dry it, to give it some heat

It will lighten it. It will make it an orange color if you leave it on very long and you started out with brown or black hair. Best bet is to buy a box of highlighter kit and dump that on your head and wait. A strand test first would be a wonderful thing to do. Good Luck!!!

it lightens it, like bleaching. only peroxide is safer than bleach. bleach is way harsh.
