can anyone tell me in simple terms, what the Pancreas & duodom do together? or about removal of duodom?

someone I am very close to, who is young, is being told there is a mass on the pancreas & duodom, that this mass is split between these two organs & an immediate surgery is needed to remove this whatever it is mass..I am very concerned and I would like to understand what might be happening here. Could this be Cancer?

Well.. pancreas and duodenum are parts of our digestive system. pancreas is a digestive and endocrine galnd. duodenum is the beginning of small intestine.
Regarding the mass if it aught to be removed imm it might be a cancer, but the surgery is not very complicated to be scared off.. it might take time to recover as the patient is a young one, but it is of almost with no life risk in the hands of an experienced surgeon. good luck.
