Prince is a good-looking young male border collie! He is around one year of age and is on the smaller side for a male, weighing about 35 lbs. He is thin, though, and needs to put on a few pounds.

Prince has a great temperament, gets along well with other dogs and settles nicely in the house. He is learning some basic manners, he knows 'sit' , 'crate' , 'wait' and 'off', he is crate trained and he is house trained. Prince has been very confident and friendly around everyone he has met.

Prince loves to play chase in the yard, whether he is the chaser or the chasee, he has a very happy go lucky attitude. He also likes playing with his toys in the yard and in the house. His favorites are squeaky toys, but he also enjoys a good game of tug with the other dogs and he likes to retrieve the tennis ball in the yard.

If you are interested in any kind of dog training,

You should get him before it is too late!

If his adoption is pending it may already be too late. Border collies require specific people to home them. They are insanely intelligent and mischievous. If you can't keep him occupied and busy most of the day he will occupy himself and most of the time it won't be to your liking. The need a ton of exercise and training to be good pets, and are best suited for farm life. If you have a lot of free time and are ready to dedicate yourself to a dog you should read up more on border collies. If you want a dog that is going to just be OK in the back yard most of the day a border collie definitely isn't right for you...

He sounds like a lovely dog, but a high energy one that will take a lot of exercise. And Border collies, like most herding breeds, are notorious for needing some kind of "work" to keep them out of mischief. It could be fly ball, agility training, or any other activity, but he will need something to do. They're very smart dogs and get bored easily.

I guess the best thing is to ask yourself if you have the time, energy, and physical space for a very active young dog. If you do adopt him, I suggest obedience training for him right away: it will help the two of you bond, maintain his current level of training, and give him something to do.

Hope this helped.

Unless you are the person pending him, then it might be too late. Sounds like maybe someone got to him before you. And if you like to brush a dog then he sounds great. Good luck and there are many others looking for homes.

No. Someone else has spoken for him. It seems you are zeroing in on Border COllies. Please go to the library and research them before you jump into this. If you only knew how many BCs get turned into the shelter because their owners had no idea what they were like...

If it is adoption pending, that means someone else is already getting him.

Good luck with getting a dog.
