I am 22 years old who doesn't need to lose weight, but needs to tone up. I have really been trying to go to the gym about 4-5 times a week. But I don't know a lot about lifting and I want to tone, not have a ton of muscle. I also don't want to gain much weight. I can handle about 5 pounds, but other than that no weight gain. I also stick to a low carb diet.

Weights are the best to tone up with a combination of cardio.

It's very important to check your calorie intake, a low carb diet is OK as long as you are getting all the nutrients your body needs.

I would highly recommend you to talk to a trainer, a lot of gyms have them and today they are not very expensive and you can learn a lot about your body, food and new excercises.

Your best bet is Bikram Yoga.

It is a hard workout on your whole body that builds lots of core strength and tones everything. It is the best toning exercise I have done besides Northern Shaolin Kung Fu.

Quite a few Hollywood types do various types of Yoga. I like Bikram because it is hot and is always the same set of 26 asanas so you can continue to work to perfect them.
