My front thighs are killing me. It hurts to walk and go up stairs, but it is nearly impossible to walk down the stairs from the pain. Yesterday was my first day at a new job at a small non-busy liquor store. I had to stand for about 6 hours. Then later that night I noticed pain in my thighs, and I woke up this morning with even more intense pain. It feels like the front muscles.
I am pretty in-shape. I ride my bike for miles every week or so.
Is it just I am not used to standing for so long? What can I do to relieve it?

Sounds like you are using some muscles that you didn't know were there. Try a long, hot bubble bath. a pain reliever and top off with a massage. Make sure you wear good support shoes to work.

It sounds like the muscles on the front and back of your upper legs are not developed evenly, especially if you only ride a bike.
Try certain stretches that tuck your leg behind you and have you lean back over them to help stretch the ones that bother you, and also get more cross training, and some comfortable footwear for long hours of being on your feet.
Good luck~

I'd say you are working muscles or straining...anyway when I'm sore like that I stretch real good...stretch my legs...like people do before they exercise, that usually gives me some relief.

Hope that helps ya.

standing for that length of time is not good for the joints or the circulation. you will eventually develop VARICOSE VEINS in your legs. start moving about more to keep the blood in your legs CIRCULATING.
