If you have data on the drive you want to save and you need to re-install Windows, go to your local computer store and buy a cheap 80GB hard drive and install Windows on that drive. Then simply connect your old drive after you finish installing Windows and copy what data you want over to your new disk.
I usually run with two hard drives in my computer. One has all my operating system files (Windows) and applications and the other is all my data. When I need to re-install or upgrade I just need to worry about moving my data disk into my new computer. I also use a 250GB external USB 2.0 drive to backup some files like my iTunes to protect against a hard drive failure.
If you can't activate Windows over the internet then you need to follow the prompts in the activation window to call Microsoft and activate it over the phone. You'll waste about 15 minutes of your life, but you get it activated.

After you are done with pounding the cd drives, next you need to do is pound the mother board and video and sound cards. After that is done you need to pound the pc fans till they are in working order. You need to make sure everything is in working order you will need to put it back together again. Take your crowbar and slam the cover back onto the tower. If your pc fails to load take it to where they are tunneling. You put it in front of it and watch the tunnel boring machine destroy your pc.
