My children have been in daycare for about 3 months and they have constantly stayed sick!!! They've been in 2 other daycares that had the approx. same amount of children but have NEVER been sick like this. The daycare has pretty strict rules about children coming in sick, but mine seem to be constantly sick. Throught 3 months I've had bronchitis and Pnuemonia. My fiance has had the same. And my children have had a variety my oldest being the worse having had pnuemonia twice in a month. How can I stop this from happening? I use lysol and hand sanitizers as much as possible. Any suggestions?

See there isnt anyone to watch them they have to go to daycare, and i do trust this daycare. When I decided to go forward with my career I did a thorough search. These people are highly recommended. Being a stay at home mom is great if u can afford it, but my children ALSO need the interaction of friends and kids thier age BEFORE they go to school.

children under 5 do not need much interaction with other kids. that's an utter misunderstanding of the developmental needs of kids. and you certainly don't need day care to get good interaction. in fact, you should be there to make sure the interaction is good.

Day care is highly associated with kids being much more sick much more often. This probably is okay with you, as day care is also associated with extreme emotional damage, family disunity, deficits in SOCIAL SKILLS, and school performance. It's a terrible nasty life for a kid. Your kids are phsyically sick now and they are also growing emotionally and intellectually and socially damaged. Great choices.

It might be that the day care doesn't sanitize the facility very well. They may have a strict health policy, but the germs still get in the facility. How do they deal with the germs? How often do they sanitize toys? What do they clean eating tables with? How often do they wash the sheets or clean the mattresses? These are some questions you might want to ask the day care facility. I know, it's so frustrating. You are doing your best to be a good mom, make a living and provide for your family and you're trying to keep everyone healthy. Good luck and I feel for ya.

EDIT: Don't worry about Casandra's comments. She's a ***** and is just trying to spread fear and hate. She has nothing useful or helpful or true to share and has to lash out at other moms for the choices they have made. Not everyone has the luxury of staying home and eating bon bons all day.

I have this friend who told me about her other friend(the other friend works in a daycare) who said once:"when the children are too much and we can't cope with looking after all of them,we just open the windows, make draught and the next day half of the kids are sick,so it's easier to take care of the others.".When I heard that I decided:NO DAYCARES ANYMORE!Now I stay at home and look after the children(I also found a well-paid job to be able to do at home). So,don't trust these daycares!Trust me,I'm a mother of 7 kids and I definitely know all this.

the answer is simply 1-2 days before someone has symptoms of an illness they are MOST contagious. In a daycare setting where kids put toys in their mouths and such.... this is the making of sick days galore. My advice find a babysitter for the bulk of your working hours. Since I know you have concerns about your children making friends... example babysitter Monday -Thursday and on Friday they go to daycare.

I dont trust certain daycares, so I would look into what someone 'may' be doing. It's likely one way or the other that the source of their being sick is being caused from the daycare, whethers its intentional or not. Mold could be a very good possibility.

this is ONE of the reasons my kids donot go to daycares. also your child has a higher risk of developing asthma from being in daycares. I know everyone doesnt have the option of staying home but maybe use a sitter in your home or a private babysitter who keeps a few kids that can tell parents their kids arent welcomed if they are sick

I'd talk to your doctor. Maybe there's something you can do to boost their immunity. But if you haven't had this problem before you may consider putting them in one of the other two daycares or changing daycares.

What does it mean "my fiance has had the same", meaning he got sick too?

The question is, do other kids at the day care also get sick often? You have to determine if it is your kids gets sick from day care, or your kids bring the sickness to the day care? Either case, it'll pass, this builds up their immune system, and they won't get as sick later.

saying kids who stay home dont get interaction with others kids is the stupidest thing ever said or though. My kids have 3 play groups a week, and art classes and play with neighbor kids and MOPS 2 times a month. Youre just feeling guilty cause you cant stay home

Maybe you were sanitizing too much, yes, I belive there is such thing as toooo clean - your kids have no exposure to bacteria, therefore no immunity and they end up catching EVERYTHING now. Stop sanitizing everything, add some more vitamins in their diet and get them outside as much as possible - they'll built up their immunity. And keep them around other kids (even animals, if possible).
