1972 was some time ago and I dont think it is available on line.
go to www.ask.com
ask your question in simple terms
If not online, you can go to the local va hospital or office . Give them the dates of service and show ID. they wil give you a signed statement right there but the actual copy will take some days. good luck

If you go to www.military.com they have all kinds of links in there and I am certain I have seen one to obtain your DD214 It might take a little shearching but it will be worth it. You can also go to you nearest VA rep. in town and they can request one for you.
