It is so sad, when the baby is born they will say, "Why my baby?"
Wish I could be there to explain it to them.
They should really require parenting classes with your first born child!

I live in upstate New York I moved here last winter from southern California. It gets to be like 30 degrees below 0 up here and when I moved here I was pregnant so I was alot more aware of people smoking, I cant believe how many people smoke in the cars with babies and little kids here. During the winter its too cold to roll down the window and you have to have the heater on so I could just imagine how nasty it is for those kids. People are so selfish when it comes to smoking either they refuse to get educated or they just dont care about the risks but I think smoking in a car with kids should be illegal too. I think in Cali they passed a law that you cant smoke in the car with kids under 12 but they dont ever enforce it. I had a complicated pregnancy so it really bugs me to see woman not taking care of themselves while they are pregnant, they take advantage that THEY dont have complications but never worry if the baby will have them.

I guess it's the way they were brought up, or they could just be rebelling teens. I see young girls all the time pregnant and wearing mid riff tops out in public. I mean 8 months pregnant too.
Obviously they aren't being taught the do's and don'ts of pregnancy. As for the parents who leave their kids in the car
while they smoke, they should be reprimanded sure, but would you rather they smoke where the kids can have 2nd hand smoke?

Yes I agree. If you ever have the chance to be in a NICU a good percentage of the babies in there are there because of the poor choices of their own mothers while pregnant. The vast majority of which could have been completely avoided.
Unfortunately, it's harder to adopt a dog from the humane society than it is to get pregnant.

You shouldn't be so quick to judge people maybe she wants to stop smoking its harder than you think and if her baby suffers she will have to live with that forever, although i think it is unhealthy for the baby i know alot of women who smoke during pregnancy and baby's came out fine there are risk in alot of things pregnant women do its up to the mother to make the choice not you if she was drinking coffee you wouldn't be alarmed but that is bad to!!!!!

Just because it's not illegal. I'm a mom of 7 going on 8. All uncomplicated pregnancies, none premature, all healthy weighted infants, all healthy children - no ear infections, no breathing problems, none suffer colds more than once a year, if that. I'm a smoker. My hubby's a smoker. Just dumb luck or really great breeding. It's all in the genes.
By the by, do you have a license for that soap box? If you don't like it, don't do it.

Yeah, that is horrible. These women don't realize that they are bringing a life into this world and its their responsibility to look after that life!! My sister and her husband would love to have a child they would make such great parents but my sister has got problems so they have to do IVF and they might never have children of their own whereas these women have a chance and yet they take it for granted!!
