a friend has given me a bottle of summit id like to know wat it is its from the algarvetop of label reading down says.......aguardente MEDRONHO especialidade da serra do caldeirao algarve MOURINHA pls help as i want to drink it but not sure wat it is ive been told its also known as FIREWATER alcohlic content 46%

the liquid inside is clear and the bottle label looks like its old but it was bought this year and from the algarve

Very good Portuguese wine. Called firewater because it is so much stronger than other wines. Will knock you on your @ss if you drink too much. You will love it.

This is indeed fire water the translation is roughly "aguardente MEDRONHO specialty of the mountain range of caldeirao algarve MOURINHA" it is a locally produced tipple made from fermented strawberry tree berries and is drunk neat. All the best and keep away from naked flames.

Firewater is Eau de Vie (water of life) or schnapps or gnole, produced by moonshiners in their home. It varies between 45% and up to 50% and was used in farms or during the war to disinfect and kill germs of infected wounds.

I can help you here, it is a very strong brandy , made from the
Arbutus Berry, and is locally made in Portugal.And I'm very jealous that you have some cause I had a little taste when my sister brought some back, and it's gorgeous. Pity i'm not there to help you go through it. ENJOY

Agua Dente (fire water)
Medronho --its arbutus-berry local name
Spirit of the devil
If you drink much of this, it knocks you on your Ar**

It's a berry brandy from Portugal. Check the second link it has a brief description of what it is. It is also known as the spirit of the Devil.

Algarve is in Portugal.the drink is what is known as very strong wine.it's not a very good wine .it's cheap ..because its a rough
drink .it's okay if you want to go blind from drinking it

It's brandy made from the arbutus berry.

Anyone who says AGUARDIENTE is confusing Spanish with Portugese.
