When people say they speak Mallorquin, do they mean it is a different language or dialect to that spoken in Catalonia?

The Mallorquin is not the same that Catalonian and catalonian is not Spanish, though catalonian is an official language in Spain. Anyway mallorquin is a direct dialect from catalonian, the valencia as well. Regards!

First, Catalán isn't Spanish. It's a separate language. Mallorquin is a dialect of catalán.

Yes as far as im aware.... catalan is used on all the islands..

they will all speak catalan. other area's have different regional languages too like asturian, valenciano, etc.
