Children can drop out of school at 16 if they choose to do so. So I believe the answer would be yes. I worked when I was in school at 16. I don't think that there is any difference between the policies for home schooling and otherwise.

Yeah, it's legal, just like it's legal for you to go to high school and get a part time job at 16 (full time job would be illegal unless under special circumstances, because you'd have to drop out of school). There are a few hoops you need to jump through--I know I had to get a work permit from the high school (which was just a routine form they filled out) but it might be different based on your state and because you're homeschooled.
Although it's legal, it might not be a wise idea. Since you're homeschooled, you might need to spend more time cultivating your social relationships since school is not a social thing for you, so doing that, plus school, plus your job might leave you either overwhelmed or neglecting your relationships or your school work. It's up to you to answer whether you can handle it (though you should also get advice from a parent or someone else who knows you and your capabilites).
One idea is to do something like babysitting or tutoring for neighborhood kids--it's unlikely to require the same commitment of time as a real job, and will probably pay better and be more fun too. Petsitting when people leave town is also a viable idea. (And this isn't just a way to pick up 5 bucks for gumballs--you can make real money doing it. I got paid 20 bucks an hour to tutor a kid, and I know people who make 40-50 dollars a night doing babysitting. The only problem is that because people probably will only need tutoring or babysitting once or twice a week, you're not working enough hours to make a whole lot of money, but you can always work for multiple families)

It depends on your state laws but you should be able to with no problems. And don't worry about socialization...a work environment is socialization. Esp if you work with the public. Where do you think adults find most of there friends..at work!
If you work in the day just move your schooling to evening time, thats the advantage of homeschooling. The tutoring idea was a great one you can make good money doing it, it doesn't take a lot of hours to do, and you might even give a homeschooling mom a break from the kids for a while. But a job at your age is a great idea. Good luck!

Depending on the state you live in, you might need a work permit (you can call your local high school to see if this is required and they can help you with the paperwork). As long as your part time job doesn't interfere with the required number of hours that you are homeschooled, it isn't a problem. It would be the same as a HS student going to school and then going to work after school

Yes, it should be fine. Check out your state labor laws and see how many hours a 16-yr-old can work legally. The homeschool thing has nothing to do with how much you can work.

Yes. It totally depends on your employer. Some will cheerfully ignore the state law--but 16 is way different than 14.
16-year-olds work all the time. Go find a job and
start making money.

Good grief, years ago 16 year olds graduated from high school and went straight to work...

I dont know what state you are in. But any state I know of allows 16 year olds to work, and they are (or should be at least) in school. Homeschooling is no different in that aspect than attending public. They just have to work around their school schedule.

Yes But I Think Your Parents Have To Sighn A Work Permit?

Why not? Kids in regular schools get jobs at 16. Check with your state department of labor for the specifics of work permits, hours, etc....

The laws vary from state to state, but generally if you are old enough to drop out of a traditional high school, then you are old enough to work. Check out this site:
