I went to Wendy's the other day here in Pensacola, and had the WORST service....., my order was screwed, ask for mustard, and got mayo, no napkins, forgot my spoon for my frostee, and is it so hard to say "thank you, or come again, or have a nice day"? UGGHH :-)

Because the pay sucks, their coworkers usually suck, their bosses suck, and they go home smelling like a grease trap.

Plus somethimes the customers make a big deal out of little things, like forgetting to include a straw and take it out on the person who is barely making minimum wage.

I feel sorry for the people who have to work there. Its not pleasant.

The Wendy's on Hwy 29 near "W" st. and the one at Hwy. 29 and Kingsfield Rd. are both terrible when it comes to customer service. The Wendy's drive-thru in Milton once forgot to give me a fork with my salad. They were pretty rude when I later called to tell them about it and told me I should have asked for it. We ate there the other day though and had great service. The one in Sacred Heart Hospital and the one on 9 mile road have ALWAYS provided good customer service above and beyond. I'd call the 800# and let them know you had a bad experience. Your next meal at Wendy's will likely be on them. As far as people being polite with "thank you", "come again", or "have a nice day"... I think unless it is a business who prides themselves in being polite and instills that in their employees that you're not likely to see that much this day and time.

Honestly, you should consider the point of view of the fast food worker. I agree there is no need to be rude and any job you have you should strive to do your best.
BUT... when your boss may be younger than you are, you are only being paid minimum wage, probably only working "part time" (the highest amount of hours they can make you without offering benefits) not to mention dealing with rude customers all day, it can be very difficult to have a positive outlook and really WANT to help the people who won't even look you in the eye when they are ordering like a robot.

It's a lot of reasons. They don't get paid much, they're constantly wishing their life was better, and they probably have so many things on their mind about their job that they forget stuff. Or their parents forced them to get the job. But that should be no excuse for bad service. They knew before they got the job that they are supposed to be nice, courteous, kind and treat the customer with respect, no matter who the person is.

Not all fast food employees are rude, I have met some very nice ones. Unfortunately the miserable underpaid could give a sh** less about the job ones are the ones we remember more! P.S. that also is a 100% reflection on the management! I would never keep someone who is rude to my customers, and i'd know it occured. They pay my paycheck, thank you and have a nice day is very easy, and a positive reflection on the buisness....You Have A Nice Day!!!!!

I have had good and bad service at fast food restaurants. So I know there are people out there that still have respect and manners. I always try to tip those who greet me with a smile. They deserve it. And to those who have no people skills, they need to find other jobs.........other jobs are out there. I used to work in an office, many people in and out and many phone calls a day stress to the max. I had my bad days, but that is something you just have to suck up if you are going to work in an environment where you encounter people every day. You know what your job holds when you take it. You may be about to explode inside, but on the outside you have to wear a smile and kind voice.

Probably because working in fast food service is ungratifying--as a routine and as an income source--and doing it makes you irritable.

I'm sure some workers rationalize that, since they individually don't profit from a high volume of customers, why should they be polite or in any way try to encourage customers to return?

Doesn't this behavior fall in the "Nobody has taught me to be responsible for my own behavior" category. Ask them and their answer to why are they rude is always the manager's fault, the co-worker's fault, or the customer's fault.

We went into a Burger King and asked for a Whopper. The kid turned around and looked at the menu saying, "Do we have that?"
I guess the manager forgot to train him about the menu, their co-worker didn't support him and the customer forgot to go someplace else!

Most of the people working at Wendy's are either kids who haven't yet been taught the importance of customer service -- or they are adults who are working for minimum wage, which would make them generally pissed off about everything.

Either way, they need to be reminded that customer service is important.

Employees are rude alot at fast food restaurants. When they hand you your food, take a minute and look it over to make sure it is correct.Do the checking both in the restuarant before sitting down and check your order before driving away.Check for napins, ketchup, salt, silverware,or anything you may need, especially a straw...i guess, i wouldn't be smiling if i was making under minimum wage, how about you.I wouln't be rude too someone either.i am friendly.I try to say hi to people as I walk by,I hate rude people.
