I am convinced that some time in the 90s on British TV, possibly on 'This Morning' there was a recipe for chocolate cake that used grated courgette [zucchini] - am I remembering wrong or is someone able to supply me with the recipe, please? Thanks, Ian.

My friend made one last year and it was lovely, don't know what receipe she used but have found this one -

½ c soft margarine or butter
½ c oil, 1 ¾ c sugar
2 eggs,1tsp vanilla
½ c sour milk**
2 ½ c flour
4 tbsp cocoa
½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp ground cloves
2 c finely shredded and peeled zucchini
1/3 c chocolate chips

**to make sour milk, add 1 tsp lemon juice to ½ c milk and let stand for 5 minutes.

Preparation:

Cream butter, oil, sugar. Add eggs, vanilla, and sour milk and beat until well blender. Mix together all the dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture, beat well. Stir in diced zucchini.
Spoon batter into greased and floured 9x12x2” pan and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
No frosting is necessary as cake is rich and moist.

Bake at 325 degrees for 40 – 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean and dry.

ewwww yuck, why on earth would you want to eat a chocolate courgette cake? Are you on some wierd courgette diet? Are you the same dude who wanted a reipe for making wine out of courgettes?

Oh no,
Shouldn`t Chocolate cake containe, Chocolate, Flour, Marge, Eggs, not a vegtable that looks like a manky green aliens tenticle.
I cant think of anything more disgusting.
Eeeeuuurgggghhhh.

you need chocolate, eggs, self raising flour and marge or butter, sugar and courgettes.Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well, place in a cake tin and cook. When cooked leave to cool before throwing it in the bin.
