When I was 3 I had my two front teeth pulled, and they knocked me out for it. I'm a little surprised they are not doing that for your son. I would ask if that is an option for your son before they begin tomorrow. He'll be fine though, he may cry and be upset, but you can distract him easily afterward by going out to do something you know he likes. Nothing too strenuous like a playground, but maybe the library or bookstore, or even go shopping for a small toy. That is what my mom did for me. I had just a had a birthday and had gotten two Strawberry Shortcake games (anyone remember those!) and she took me to the store after I had my teeth pulled to exchange one of the games for something else. I can still remember sitting in the shopping cart with my mouth full of gauze picking out my new toy.

He's not going to like the injection when they "freeze" his gums, which will make him not trust the dentist. You will have a difficult time holding him still if he is throwing a fit. Your best bet is to tell him everything BEFORE you go tomorrow. "You will feel a pinch, but it will go away fast. Then the dentist will use this really cool tool to get that tooth out." Don't make him afraid, or lie about it.

I've not had to go through this particular situation, but every child reacts so differently to different things. I would assume he will be terrified due to the fact he has to be held down against his will, a lot of screaming, blood, and then sheer pain. Before he goes give a dose of Tylenol, and if you do that tell his dentist. Be strong and patient for him.
