Cable Card is an option that some cable companies provide. The intent was to eliminate the need for the HDcable box-tuner. The card is a more compact and wireless option. You could get HDTV channels with it, however you sacrifice the ability to record or order pay-per-view movies, because the data is only received, not sent. If you don't mind having an HDTV cable tuner plugged into yout tv, I would recommend that option over the cable card. Some cable companies do not even have the cards available yet, either. You would have to check with your cable company.

I don't know what a cable card is.

I have a tv with HDTV and have a HDTV digtal cable box.

That would be an affirmative. And why are you asking us... ask your cable provider.... They have a free technical deparment.
