Turn yourself in now. You are now AWOL. After 30 days, you become a deserter. This will be a serious offense because of war time. Go back now that you are only awol, you will end up seeing a chaplain. Tell him you dont want to be there. They will usually help you out a lot. If you dont turn yourself in they will catch you at a traffic stop or something stupid. At least call your unit chaplain or first sergeant...Good Luck

Oh Sweetie, I would strongly advise you not to go pass the 30 days because then you're considered a deserter. That's a hell of a lot worse then going back and facing the music now!
I'm not Military, but I'm a Military wife and I have seen this before. I have a feeling if they know how much you want out, their only going to make you stay in! You better seriously think about this and realize that there is no getting out of this one! Face the music and live with whatever they do! But you can guarantee they are going to be a lot harder on you if you're more then thirty days AWOL. Yes, you could face time in the Brig now, but I bet you'll defiantly get it if you are considered a deserter!

Nothing guarantees you a discharge.
If you're AWOL less than 30 days, you can't get discharged for it. If you're AWOL more than 30 days, you MAY get discharged if your command chooses to kick you out, whether that be administratively or by court-martial.
Beware: If you do get discharged for going AWOL, it will NOT be an Honorable discharge. It will either be characterized as Other Than Honorable (if administrative) or Bad Conduct (if punitive). Either way, that's a bad piece of paper that will prevent you from getting the job you want for the rest of your life.
My advice: Go back to your unit, do your best work, and do whatever you want to do at the end of your enlistment. The success of the rest of your adult life depends on it.

The difference between AWOL and desertion is intent. You obviously intend to not return to the miltary, so the moment you left you were considered a deserter.
The general rule is that you are AWOL if gone for less than 30 days and are automatically considered a deserter after 30 days, whether you intended to return or not. It's a case by case situation, but you're a deserter. Waiting past 30 days keeps you from using the excuse that you meant to return.
You face severe penalities for desertion, and you've bought yourself a court-martial.

it would not remember the position you turn your self in at. they'll basically deliver you decrease back on your unique base of beginning. you fairly want to face the music and take care of this. The worst that is going to take position is a discharge. A naughty one. except Honorable. in the military, you would possibly want to in all probability get 30-40 5 days of reduce 1st, then they discharge you. yet you ought to face this. you may by no skill stay a common existence in case you save operating. Its no longer as vast a deal because it sort of feels. only a technicality. Get it dealt with and bypass on along with your existence. Its no longer the right of the international. So what...you won't be able to get a authorities job. when you're literally not getting a job that calls for a historic past examine, they'll by no skill comprehend you've been even in the defense force. Hell, I easily have an honorable discharge and that i became informed to flaunt that at interviews. wager what? They couldn't supply a crap that I ever served. Grand. i became informed i might want to have a leg up on absolutely everyone else because of my defense force service and its no longer authentic. In many years, you would possibly want to have moved on and it is going to all be in the back of you. Face the music. Its no longer that sizable of a deal. you'd be effective. In some months, you'd be a loose civilian. yet you want to handle this now.

Young person, you have made a big mistake. This mistake will be a part of your life in 10/20/30 years. Your wife will know it, your children, and everyone around you.
Do the following (IF YOUR A MAN):
1. Turn yourself in ASAP
2. Take an Article 15 and accept the punishment
3. Get your ____back to Iraq or Afghanistan and earn some respect back before you ruin your whole life and those around you.

You should get pregnant.
j/k. But seriously, just go back and turn yourself in to get it all over with. You'll have to face the consequences, but it'll be okay. There's just going to be some rough times ahead now. Everything will be fine.
People in my last unit went awol all the time. Some came back, some didn't. So, I know everything will turn out fine.

It all depends on your unit!!! I was awol for 29 days then got arrested because its a federal warrent was in county jail for 1 week the mps came and got me and then i was just sent back to my unit. If I was you just turn yourself in and tell them you dont want to be there, chances are they will get you out or they will just return you back to duty as normal and nothing will happen. Sorry Ive been there. Its not easy.
