Lust is usually associated with sexual desire and often with hormonal arousal. Love does not depend on either. Lust is something selfish you do that has no interest in what the object of lust wants, needs, desires...
"Real love" in my book is a committment to do what is best for the person I love, even if it costs me to do it, even if I don't "feel" like it at the time, and even if I never get anything in return. I love my father and my children but I do not lust after them. I love my spouse even when I experience no hint of lust. I believe that some lust is a good thing between husband and wife, but is only destructive in other relationships: it is almost impossible to build a meaningful relationship when your brain is twisted with mind-altering hormones whenever you are together.

It's simple. When you truly love someone, I mean truly, for no apparent reason other than love, then you know the difference between love and lust. If you have never had a physical relationship with a person, never really speak with them, put up with being ignored or insulted or looked at with compassion and love, then it love all the way. The lust can come later with the connection of the two souls once they found heaven together.....

Yes. I think that love is a deep and lasting feeling that is developed over time. Lust, however, can be formed within seconds. Just by looking at someone, a person can feel lust. This is because lust is mostly based on appearances, whereas love, real, true, LASTING love, is based on so much more than that. In short, lust is shallow compared to love.

You can love many people deeply without having a sexual desire for them. You love your family. Your best friend.
Lust is fleeting. Short lived. It's a slight chemical rush in our brains.
Love causes you to forgive things. Lust often causes anxieties.
Love causes you to be generous. Lust causes you to be selfish.
Love makes sacrifice easy. Lust makes sacrifice difficult.
I could go on.

Do you love chocolate?
Do you love your mother?
Do you love them both in the same way?
Of course there's a difference between love and lust.
Look them both up in a dictionary and compare.
