she said she loves the time we share, conversations.....then she says either date me or I'm going to date this other guy. So I said ok let's date. Then she came back with wanting to "step away" to respect me.....should I still go for her?

That doesn't make much sense but that is probably just me. The whole "date me or I'm going to date this other guy" thing sounds pretty demanding. Do you seriously like that??

Sounds to me like she decided to date the other guy too before she makes her choice. I personally would never wait around for someone to choose me over someone else. If they have to think about it then I'm not the one for them. I want someone who wants me.
