Under current Abortion laws, the man did not create the child, he just created a "Mass of Cells", so, with this thinking, the man should not be held accountable.

The woman actually created the baby herself by not killing it.

By the way, this is NOT my belief!

Some are missing my point.

Some really good answers so far.

My point is LEGALLY, with our current laws, the man did not create a Baby. If the man did Create a baby, Abortion would HAVE to be called Murder.

Did he help create a Baby, (and be held accountabe) or just a mass of cells?

How it is calculated has NOTHING to do with the question, the question is Who created the Baby.

My main problem is that abortion takes away a man's rights as well as the childs.

The baby is only a "mass of cells" during the first trimester, since late-term abortions have been banned. Therefore when the child is born, it is a human being that the woman created with a man's sperm. Every time one has sex, unless one or both parties are sterilized, you are taking the risk and agreeing to the risk of having a child, therefore the man always should be held accountable. Any man that tries to use that poor logic to get out of paying child-support should not be having sex at all.

Interesting. So what you're saying is that the fathers should also have a say in whether the child is aborted? I think they should. There are problems with that, however. If there's a tie....one wants the baby, the other is for abortion, who gets to break the tie? If we say all ties go in favor of the baby's life (because someone DOES want the baby)....how on earth would you force a woman to carry a child she doesn't want?
Don't you wish people would just be responsible for their own actions? I sure do.

A man is responsible for where he puts it without protection, if you don't want the responsibility of a child, then don't get a woman pregnant.

In case you haven't noticed, there are very few men who get custody of their children, very few want custody of their children. Women get pregnant and the guy decides to leave, so she is left a single parent with a child to raise, and when you have kids, that costs money, if your not going to do anything else, I think the least thing a man can do is pay child support. . . however, in the rare case that the father seeks and is granted custody, I do believe that the woman should have to pay child support.

LOL. Women have to pay child support sometimes too. It depends on who has custody, and the level of income. But, yes, there should be an exception for those accidental fathers who wanted their partner to have an abortion, but the woman refused. Of course, he would also have to prove that he used protection, or was decieved by the woman who said she was useing protection. Alot of men refuse to use protection, and those need to be held responceable along with the mothers, unless it was rape.

I see your point but, it really has to do with who has custody of the children the majority of the time. This should be the person who receives the child support. If the man has the children, then the ex-wife should pay the child support and vice versa.

So, here's a compromise:
For every abortion done WITH the knowledge and consent of the father, let there also be one castration....
after all, guys, it's just a "mass of cells"...don't get so damned emotional!
You gotta admit, it would definitely go a long way toward ending unwanted pregnancies!!

Boy you are sure ignorant, Im sorry honey but it takes two to make a baby, It would be physicaly impossible for me to get myself pregnant so of course there has to be a man involved. Yes you should have to pay child support because its your kid and if you feel you shouldnt sign your rights off and hopefully the mother gets involved with a real man who will father her child. people like you shouldnt have sex!!

Both parents made a commitment to the child to do everything in their power to help the child reach maturity. When a divorce happens, the non-custodial parent is usually made to pay child support in order to continue this promise he/she made to the child at birth.

Very misguided line of reasoning.
Child support is not calculated from the moment of conception. It is calculated from the moment of birth. Look at every state in the union and you will find that is the case.
