Let's start off with a simple point: anyone who suggested ebay is a moron and is looking for some quick points.

Now, to help provide some furthered helpful information.

Stock Photography: If you get into this, you have to have a ton to be successul. Not just 30 or 40, but hundreds. Especially since most stock photography sites only pay a few cents per download. Also, subscribing to just one site is not the way to do it. Subscribe to like 3 or 4 stock sites and sell your images that way. Some big companies are:
Dreamstime (www.dreamstime.com)
iStockPhoto (www.istockphoto.com)
Shutterstock (www.shutterstock.com).
If you go this way, take some time to view how images are categorized. This is absolutely critical. If a person can't find your image on one of these stock sites, you don't get paid. Plain and simple

Art Gallery: Another way is to contact a local art gallery. Usually they are more than happy to work with a local artist and will display your images. Usually, with your print, a business card or contact card is close at hand along with a price for the print. This allows people to see your name and start to recognize your work.

Coffe Shops: Local coffee shops are another great place to advertise your work. They are always looking for local artists to showcase and hang on their walls.

Word of Mouth: Try printing a few large prints and give to some friends or family. Have them hang it in their house or put it someplace that will allow for easily viewing. This way, as people ask about the work, they can refer them to you.

Website: Create a website that showcases your work and allows people to purchase a variety of sized: frame and unframed. Pass out business cards around advertising this website and try to drive traffic tihs way.

Art Shows: A lot of communities have a local art show or craft show where local people can display their work. See about getting a booth at one of these.

- There, now you have actual information that's helpful.

Ebay is not the best way to make a profit. It's best for advertising. Go on the internet and find a place that will sell prints of your artwork. There's CafePress, Art.com, and deviantArt, to name a few. You'll probably have to pay a little money to get anything decent.

Then use Ebay, not as your primary source of income, but instead sell a few prints of a single photo every other week or so. (I believe there's a way to do this with a single auction.) Have a link to your online store in the auction information. It's a good way to drive traffic to your store.

Ok, since there is some mis-information among your answers .. reguarding stock photography... there are a number of ways to start selling.

Shutterpoint.com is one option, and there are other online outfits like this one. Your photos do have to be of a good enough quality for any of them to take you on board but you do not need 10 thousand plus images.. that is just plain hogwash.

Do a search for sell my photography and you will find some of the places, read their requirements and good luck.

website. Dont have the $$$ for a website just yet? Throw a few on ebay. If nobody buys them on ebay then nobody ever will anywhere else. Sad but true.

starving artists.com is another good one. Be sure to go to istock to check out the guidelines. Model releases and property releases are often required to sell stock photos. Don't get discouraged!!!!! GOOD LUCK!

try local art shows. You'll have to have prints of various sizes, and frame some of them for looks. But local art shows are a good place to start.

You need to start asking around to see if people what them. You should go on line to e-bay and see what you can do there.

its called stock photography.....and it can be a business, but youll need 10,000 images before anyone will bring you onboard.

selling them one by one is a real pain and rarely pays off
